When surrounded by all those cute, bouncy puppies, how do you choose which one to be your pet? It is a very difficult decision and it is important not to let your heart rule over your head.

If this is your first puppy, it is best not to choose the most timid one of the litter. Pick one that is happy to be with you, to be handled. The puppy should be lively and interacting with the rest of the litter and his mother.

Whether to choose a male or female is very much a matter for personal choice, and if this is your first dog it probably doesn’t matter which you choose, the temperament of the puppy should be more important.
