Equine practice has advanced greatly over the last few years and there are now a number of specialist practices who employ nurses specifically for horses.
The Equine Veterinary Nursing certificate is relatively new, being awarded for the first time in 2001.
The Equine Veterinary Nursing Certificate is issued by the RCVS after the trainee has completed an NVQ Level 2 and 3 at an approved college. The training takes 2 years and involves classroom based work at an approved college as well as practical experience during employment at an approved Equine Training Practice.
